Do you Feel Safe in the Urban Space? From Perceptions to Associated Variables

This study aims to provide answers the following questions: Do you feel safe at Historic Centre of Porto (HCP)? think that crime is increasing? What are most and less frequent crimes? And feared conditions promote criminal occurrences? incivilities occur HCP? measures can be taken increase security? variables related perception insecurity? Through application Diagnosis Local Security Questionnaire, 554 participants attended HCP were assessed (58.5% women, mean age = 43.82). One in five reported feelings insecurity due presence crime/danger. Robbery, theft, drugs traffic perceived as common crimes; especially fearful about robbery theft. Nationality, education, variables, adequacy satisfaction with policing, seek for formal support, years living/studying/working (in)security.
